About Scout

Scout is a browser automation environment for AI agents. Instead of forcing every agent, IDE, or CLI client to reimplement browser automation, Scout gives agents a durable, capability-bounded window into the web. That environment spans browser automation, canvas interaction, the Scout Chrome extension, and payment surfaces, plus platform adapters.

The core idea is that an AI agent should be able to observe, understand, and operate a real browser session: navigating pages, filling forms, extracting data, capturing screenshots, and coordinating multi-tab work without maintaining its own browser infrastructure.

Scout was built on a few convictions. First, that AI-first crawling and extraction means relying on the model to understand pages and generate selectors, rather than on brittle hardcoded heuristics that break as the web changes. Second, that sessions should be durable and capability-bounded, so an agent can pick up where it left off while the underlying permissions stay explicit and auditable. Third, that the user should stay in control of model choice and credential access.

Those principles show up throughout the product: identity-aware request boundaries, capability-specific surface scopes, a browser runtime with session lifecycle management, and an extension path for pages that only exist inside a browser.

Scout is operated by a small, focused team. The product is under active development, and the public changelog tracks new tools, protocol improvements, and fixes.
